Dog Friendly Cafe * Open Wed- Sun * Breakfast / Lunch / Morning & Afternoon Tea * Devnonshire Tea * Kids Play Area * Complimentary Dog Treats
The Flour Mill Cafe is not just a dog friendly cafe in York, it's a pet friendly cafe - and we were so surprised ot meet Baby who is a blue and gold macaw when we visited on our day trip from Perth. She and her owner are regulars. If you check The Flour Mill facebook, they have also been visited by Hunter the Ferret and of course the good old faithful dog is a regular here too, with many dogs and their owners visiting here from Perth.
York is about an hour or so drive from Perth, and we found ourselves here to celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary. It was a fantastic day out with the kids and our pup Arrow in tow.
Unsure where to go we had eaten at a bakery in the main street for lunch, then taken a walk at Avon Park, when my Aunty suggested we just try The Flour Mill Cafe on our way home on the off chance they allow dogs.
We were pleasantly surprised to be welcomed in, and told they were very dog friendly (in fact very pet friendly) - they even have complimentary dog treats so your dog can dine with you too.

They have outside dining as well as an alfresco dining area so you can enjoy dining here with your dog all year round. Of course if you are dog-less you can also enjoy indoor dining too.
If you have kids with you they have a great little play area with dolphin shapped concrete slide, swings and a cubby house. It's a bit sandy around the play area so just be warned if you have younger children they may end up a little dirty, but our kids loved it - it was all part of the fun and adventure of the day.
As the name suggests the cafe is located at the base of the old York Flour Mill built in 1892, so it's set alongside a lovely piece of old York history.
Just down from the toilets the kids found the towns' Book Nook. They had a fantastic time scoring some loose change from their Aunty's and Uncle's and getting themselves tens of pre loved books and magazines, which they enjoyed reading on the trip home to Perth later in the day. The Book Nook is run by Pert's Pantry where you can find fresh chutneys, olive oils, olives and other gourmet delights made from fresh produce from the local region. Books and magazines are mostly no more than a few dollars, so pop in and have a look you may find your new favourite book here.
The Flour Mill Cafe is open Wed - Sun for breakfast. lunch and morning or afternoon tea. They have a great range of delicous delights including delicious sweet treats which you can choose from the display cabinet inside. Prices are very reasonable with a brekkie wrap around $10, devonshire tea with scones & jam $9 and cakes, slices and biscuits from just $1.50.
So if you want to head out of Perth for the day or the weekend with your dog then drive to York and make sure you pop into The Flour Mill Cafe - it's our #1 pick for a spot to dine with your dog in York.
